If you like to drink tea or coffee very hot, it is better to give up this habit medical study in Sweden. A Karolinska Institutet study found a link between beverage temperature and esophageal cancer. In this study, the data of 580,000 people from Finland and Great Britain was analyzed. The results showed that heavy drinkers were 2.8 times more likely to develop esophageal cancer than non-heavy drinkers.
In fact, the more hot beverages people like to drink, the higher their risk of cancer may be. Research has found that people who drink hot coffee or tea have a 5.5 times higher risk of cancer. Similarly, people who drink moderately hot coffee have a 2.7 times higher risk of esophageal cancer. The study found no link between hot drinks and other types of cancer, leading researchers to believe that the temperature of the coffee or tea damages the esophagus. According to research, hot drinks can cause esophageal cancer, while drinking hot water in rats has been found to cause this cancer.
